Plumbing NVQ Level 2-3



Each qualification comprises of a number of Units, each Unit contains one or more Elements, and the competence requirement covered by the Element is described by Performance Criteria and Range Statements (which detail the contexts in which performance criteria have to be met). NVQs are about competence in occupational activities – they are therefore about ‘real work’ in ‘real work situations’, and the whole aim of the delivery arrangement with its assessment procedures, is that the candidate must be employed in order to be assessed on site.

The Level Two range of plumbing systems is:

  • Cold Water Systems


  • Domestic Hot Water Systems


  • Central Heating System (Pipework arrangements only)


  • Above Ground Discharge Pipework Systems (and connections to Below Ground Discharge Pipework Systems


  • Electrical and earthing systems (connections only)


  • Sheet Weathering systems in lead (Basic weathering situations)

    Systems range for level three

    The level three range of plumbing system is:

  • Cold Water Systems (as Level Two with additional competences)


  • Domestic Hot Water Systems (as Level Two with additional competences)


  • Central Heating System (Controls and Boiler Knowledge)


  • Above Ground Discharge Pipework Systems (and connections to Below Ground Discharge Pipework Systems (as Level Two with additional competences)


  • Electrical and earthing systems (connections only)


  • Sheet Weathering systems in lead (Basic weathering situations)(as Level Two )


    • Course Duration One Year each level
